USS Seattle (AOE-3) was a fast combat support ship of the United States Navy. It was a part of the Sacramento-class of replenishment ships. USS Seattle was commissioned in 1984 and served actively in various operations for over 20 years. It was primarily responsible for refueling and replenishing ammunition, food, and other supplies for the Navy's surface ships while underway.
The ship had a length of 796 feet and a displacement of 53,000 tons. It was capable of traveling at a speed of 25 knots and had a crew of over 1,000 personnel. The USS Seattle had a spacious flight deck that could accommodate helicopters, boarding teams, and other aircraft. It also had a large hangar area for the storage and maintenance of helicopters.
The USS Seattle participated in several operations, including the Persian Gulf War, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Enduring Freedom. It received numerous awards and commendations, including the Navy Unit Commendation, the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, and the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal.
In 2005, the USS Seattle was decommissioned and subsequently stricken from the Naval Vessel Register. Today, the ship is held in reserve and awaiting final disposal.
